Press publication SUR in English have featured the Marbella Film Festival over the past few months, detailing the stars on show this year and the premiere of the highly acclaimed upcoming movie from the Rise of the Footsoldier franchise.

Festival Director Mac Chakaveh, told SUR in English that the event should be the “biggest yet” since it started in 2006. “We are getting so much more interest,” said Mac. “There are at least three world premieres this year and Marbella’s Film Festival is now becoming the event everyone talks about.” Actors Jason Flemyng (Lock Stock and 2 Smoking Barrels), Kris Marshall (Love Actually), Frances Barber (Benidorm), and Craig Kelly (The Full Monty) are among the guests that will be walking down the red carpet for the premier of Trick & Treat. The thriller was shot in Marbella last year.

The cast includes: Craig Fairbrass, Terry Stone, Emily Wyatt, Jessica Wright, Nick Nevern and Andy Loveday — who directed the film. Other stars attending the event include Gavin and Stacey actor Larry Lamb. Mac explained that all films are supported by their directors, production companies and in many cases with their cast in attendance, offering the audience the opportunity to meet the film makers, their stars and attend Q&A sessions when applicable.

Mac added that festival guests are invited to walk the red carpet along with the celebrities and attend the after parties, allowing film fans to rub shoulders with celebrities, actors and industry professionals. During the five-day film frenzy a number of workshops, seminars and networking events will also be held at the H10 Andalucía Plaza Hotel. The workshops cover subjects such as film finance, investments in the industry, sales and distribution, marketing, promotion and PR. The event ends with a glitzy Gala Awards Dinner and closing ceremony, where guests dress in black ties and sleek dresses to enjoy cocktails and live music at the H10 on Sunday 6 October.

Tickets for films can be purchased from the Teatro Goya.
